Today, at the 17th European Summer Youth Olympic Festival, the qualification stage in Men' Artistic Gymnastics was held. Georgia was represented by a member of our national youth team, Dachi Dolidze (coach: Ilia Vashakidze). Dachi did a great job on Pommel Horse and made it to the finals. Tomorrow, the Wome will compete where our Tiniko Tqemaladze will perform. We congratulate Dachi on reaching the finals, we wish a successful final and we also wish Tiniko a successful competition!
Read more »The Portuguese city of Santarem is hosting the Trampoline Gymnastics World Cup. Among the participants are members of our national team: Luba Golovina, Anano Afakidze, Mariam Ragimovi and Teona Janjghava. Competition is held both in individual discipline and between synchronized pairs. Qualifying stages were held yesterday. Luba Golovina, Anano Afakidze and Mariam Ragimov successfully passed the individual qualification and reached the semi-finals, but, unfortunately, none of them made it to the finals. As for the synchronized pairs, the Apakidze-Ragimov pair made it to the finals. They competed very well in the finals and won bronze medals! This year is the first time our trampoline players are participating in an international tournament abroad, and these medals are doubly important! We congratulate Anano and Mariam on this success and wish them future victories! Tomorrow our team will go to Coimbra (Portugal) where the next World Cup will be held. We wish success to our team!
Read more »On June 16-19 of this year in Baku (Azerbaijan) took place the 1st Baku Gym for All International Challenge. 46 teams from 3 countries took part in this tournament with 460 participants. The Georgian team was among these participants. It should be noted that this was a historical fact because so far the Georgian team has not participated in the tournaments held abroad in the GFA discipline. Georgia was represented by the member club of our Federation- the Rhythmic gymnastics school team "Dio Dance". In general, in the GFA discipline are held non-competitive tournaments and festivals , but this tournament was competitive.
Read more »On May 12-16, in Tbilisi (Georgia) was held the first International tournament in Trampoline Gymnastics "GOLDEN JUMP". National teams of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Latvia and Georgia took part in this tournament. The fact that the national and youth teams of Georgia successfully competed and won 10 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals is a very positive thing. The tournament received great feedbacks and response. All the participating federations and their members were excited about the tournament, there were many calls and messages from different countries congratulating us on the success of the tournament and hoping that the tournament will become a tradition and they too will have the opportunity to participate in it. On behalf of the United Georgian Gymnastics Federation, we would like to thank the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia and the City Service of Culture, Education, Sports and Youth Affairs of Tbilisi Municipality for their support and assistance. Read more »A few years ago, European Gymnastics launched a program called "Gymnastics Mentor for Gymnastics for All". The purpose of this program is to help countries where ,,GYMNASTICS for ALL’’ does not exists for or is at a stage of development. The help is expressed in the fact that the interested federation is attached to an expert-mentor who helps the federation to see ways of developing the GfA discipline and to draw up a development plan. Read more »On March 27-30, Tbilisi hosted for the third time an International tournament in Gymnastics For All - "TBILISI GYMNAESTRADA". The mentioned tournament was held for the first time in 2021 and the teams of Georgia and Azerbaijan took part in it with 115 participants. In 2022, teams from Georgia and Azerbaijan competed again, already with 150 participants. This year, the number of participants reached 350! 2 teams from Israel were added to 25 teams of Georgia and 6 teams of Azerbaijan. . The age of the participants ranged from 3 to 40 years. Read more »City of Antalia (Turkiye) is holding the Junior Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Georgian junior gymnast Dolidze Dachi had performed his new element (From pommel circle to 90 degrees turn to Russian wenderswing 270 on one pommel to handstand - D vaule) with success in the Qualifications of the 2nd Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships (Antalya, Türkiye)! From this on the element will be named after Dachi Dolidze! Also, on the same Championships Dachi, on the High Bar got the the best Excecution score and was awarded by the FIG with a special prize. Read more »The EC approved a proposal from the Trampoline Gymnastics Technical Committee to define the World Cup events in 2023 that will act as qualifiers for Paris 2024 under criteria 2 of the Olympic Qualification System as follows: Coimbra (POR), Palm Beach, FL (USA) and Varna (BUL). The EC also approved the selection procedures for judges for Rhythmic Gymnastics at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Read more »DECISION REGARDING ATHLETES AND OFFICIALS FROM RUSSIA AND BELARUS: Unfortunately, the conflict in Ukraine, which started just over a year ago, is still going on. Considering the exceptional circumstances related to this conflict, the FIG Executive Committee has decided, based on the new Article 13.3 of the FIG Statutes in force since 1 January 2023, to confirm the measures taken on 26 February 2022 and on 4 March 2022, in particular the measure according to which Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials, including judges, are not allowed to take part in FIG competitions or FIG-sanctioned competitions until further notice. The present measures enter into force with immediate effect and replace and supersede all measures previously taken by the FIG Executive Committee. The FIG will continuously monitor the overall situation and may reassess those measures depending on the evolution of the circumstances.
