Today, the Parliamentary Committee of Sport and Youth Affairs of Georgia, had an online presentation of the report “Gender Impact Assessment of the Draft Law on Physical Education and Sport of Georgia”. The event took place via the Zoom platform. “Gender Impact Assessment of the Draft Law on Physical Education and Sport of Georgia” is initiated by the Parliamentary Committee on Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia with the support of Gender Equality Council of the Parliament of Georgia, the USA International Development Agency (USAID), Democratic Governance Initiative (GGI), United Nations Development Program in Georgia (UNDP), National-Democrat Institute (NDI). Financial support provided by the Governments of the UK and Sweden.

The Executive Committee of European Gymnastics met online today to discuss the 2020 European Championships in Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. After the notification from Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation that due to the pandemic no major events can be hosted in Azerbaijan until the end of 2020, the EC came to the following decisions: - The 2020 European Championships in Men’s Artistic Gymnastics will be maintained (without Olympic qualification) from 9 to 13 December 2020 but will move to Mersin (TUR).

The Executive Committee of European Gymnastics met online today to discuss the planned 2020 events and came to the following decisions: - FIG will be asked to inform the IOC that due to the current Covid19 situation all over Europe we cannot organise any Olympic qualification at our European Championships this year. The conditions in the current situation are considered not appropriate for such an important decision and we do not want to pressure our federations to travel to an event (only due to it being Olympic qualifying event) to which they otherwise might not want to come.

3-6 September 2020, United Georgian Gymnastics Federation with help of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia conducted a seminar: Gymnastics for All. The seminar was attended by about 60 coaches from Tbilisi and Georgia's regions. Coaches were from all gymnastics disciplines which are practiced in Georgian at the moment. On the first day of the seminar, the Manager of the United Georgian Gymnastics Federation Mr. Giorgi Gegetchkori had given a lecture on Gymnastics For All in the world. Also, there was an online lecture by the FIG GFA technical committee member Mrs. Monica Siskova.

From today until Sunday, in Tbilisi will be conducted "Gymnastics For All" seminar. This seminar is organised by the United Georgian Gymnastics Federation with help of The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia. The seminar organized for the georgian coaches of all gymnastics disciplines practised in Georgia. Among the lecturers will be Georgian specialists and also will be online lectures from the FIG and EG experts.

Today, took place the FIG Virtual GfA Meeting. This was the third meeting, the first two meetings took place on July 8 with 27 participants, and on July 13 with 37 participants. At the today's meeting had participated 19 participants, and also the members of GFA Technical Committee. The meting was held by the FIG Gymnastics for All Committee President Mrs Margaret Sikkens Ahlquist . The aim of this meeting was to give information about current situation and about the plans for future of the GfA. From Georgian Gymnastics Federation, at the meeting had participated the Manager of the International Relations and also, the GfA specialist Mr. Giorgi Gegetchkori.

The 83rd FIG Congress, originally scheduled to take place in Antalya, Turkey from 23 to 25 October 2020, has been officially postponed until October 2021. It will be held from 29 to 31 October 2021.

In 1934, an American gymnast named George Nissen, inspired by watching circus acrobats fall onto flexible safety nets and use the rebound to perform acrobatic skills, constructed the first prototype trampoline out of canvas and rubber for inner tubes. Nissen called his device a trampoline after trampolín, the Spanish word for springboard. Trampolining caught on quickly as a backyard activity and was even used to teach pilots air sense in World War II. As a sport, Trampolining was slower to catch on. The first U.S. National Championships in Trampoline were held in 1948, but a World Championships in Trampoline were not held until 1964. At its first World Championships, held in 1964 at London's Royal Albert Hall, Trampoline was a sport

History

As early as 4,000 years ago, the people of China practiced Gymnastics exercises purely to benefit their health and promote longevity. In Ancient Greece, where perfection of the human physique was highly celebrated, Gymnastics was practised by men and women. The Ancient Greeks prized Gymnastics so much it was part of the Ancient Olympic Games, making it one of the world’s oldest sports along with athletics. Gymnastics was utilised by the Ancient Romans to turn their soldiers into finely tuned machines. Physical activity to promote health and happiness was one of the developments of the Age of Enlightenment, when Greek classical education was revived and heralded by thinkers who presented concepts linking the soul and the body. Coming on the heels of the Scientific Revolution, this era led to physical education as a science and quickly, a societal and nationalistic concept.
