Last week, Tbilisi held an International tournament in Artistic gymnastics ‘’VTB CUP’’. Since 2012 year the “VTB Bank Georgia” is the general sponsor of the United Georgian Gymnastics Federation, and this international tournament became an annual one.
This year tournament had attracted teams and clubs from Georgia, Ukraine and Russia. Georgia had participated with two WAG and two MAG teams.
Georgian WAG team had taken the third place in the team competition. And Georgian MAG team had taken the second place.
Georgian senior WAG gymnast Anna Subbotina was second in the All-around completion. She also got medals at the apparatus finals: gold medals on the Balance beam and Free floor exercise, also, she was second on the Vault and third on the Uneven bars. Our junior WAG gymnasts : Nino Kakhadze, Mariam Babunashvili, Ani Godabdze and Anano Grigorchuk had participated at the International tournament for the first time.
In the MAG senior’s All-around coemption our gymnast Vitali Arseniev was second and Saba Abesadze was third. Saba Abesadze has taken golden medals on the Steel rings and Vault, and he was third on the Parallel bars and the Pommel horse. Konstantin Kuzovkov was the first on the Floor and Vitali Arseniev was third. Vitali was the first on the Parallel bars and second on the Pommel horse. Ioane Jimsheleishvili was second on the High bar and had taken two third places: the Rings and Vault.
In the MAG junior’s competition Bidzina Sitchinava had taken three silver medals: the Floor, the Vault and the Parallel bars. Dachi Dolidze was second on the Pommel horse and the third on the Floor. Levan Skhiladze was third on the Pommel horse and on the Parallel bars.
On this tournament were awarded two veteran members of the Federation. Mr. Otar Mikeladze who turned 85 this year, was awarded with ‘’KNIGHT OF SPORT’’ title, and Mr. Robert Mikadze who turned 80 this year, was awarded with honorable diploma from the United Georgian Gymnastics Federation.
