Seminar: Gymnastics for All

A few years ago, European Gymnastics launched a program called "Gymnastics Mentor for Gymnastics for All". The purpose of this program is to help countries where ,,GYMNASTICS for ALL’’ does not exists for or is at a stage of development. The help is expressed in the fact that the interested federation is attached to an expert-mentor who helps the federation to see ways of developing the GfA discipline and to draw up a development plan. Our federation joined this program and already this year we took part in an online seminar where it was decided that our mentor would be Mr. Alberto Claudino from Portugal. Mr. Alberto is a professional with a lot of experience who has made a great contribution to the development of European Gymnastics for All and to holding international events. The second event within the framework of this program was the arrival of the mentor Mr. Alberto in Georgia and participating at the seminar on May 7 with the head of discipline in Gymnastics for All of our federation, Mr. Giorgi Gegechkori. The seminar was held in Tbilisi at the Golden Tulip Design Tbilisi Hotel. In his report, Mr. Alberto talked about the European Gymnastics for All events and the establishment, development and successful activities of this discipline in Portugal. Also, he introduced us to his vision of how it is possible to accelerate the development of gymnastics for everyone in Georgia and to send teams to participate in international tournaments abroad in the near future. Mr. Gegetchkori's speech included the two official international events of the International Gymnastics Federation, detailed information on how to participate in them, information on the events held in Georgia, as well as future plans for the development of this discipline. 45 participants attended the seminar. Among them were active gymnasts from Tbilisi as well as from other cities and regions of Georgia, former gymnasts, coaches, heads and managers of various clubs. All participants were very satisfied with this seminar and expressed their desire to be more involved in the development of this discipline in Georgia in the future. Also, after the the seminar, a meeting was held between Mr. Alberto and the leadership of the federation, where the ways of developing the GFA discipline in Georgia were discussed. We would like to thank the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia for facilitating the seminar. Thanks to Mr. Alberto for coming, for conducting a very interesting seminar and also to European Gymnastics for starting such a program. Thanks to Golden Tulip Design Tbilisi Hotel for hosting our guest and the workshop. And of course, many thanks to all participants!
