R.SIKHARULIDZE CUP2018

Last week, city of Batumi (Georgia) for the fifth time hosted the ‘’R. SIKHARULIDZE INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT IN ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS’’.

Every year the tournament attracts more and more countries and teams. This year, 15 teams from 10 countries had competed with about 100 gymnasts all together. The tournament was held from 5 to 9 September at the Batumi State University sports hall. The tournament was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Ajara and Batumi local authorities, also was managed by the United Georgian Gymnastics Federation and Gymnastics Federation of Ajara, and sponsored by the General sponsor of UGGF the Bank ‘’VTB BANK GEORGIA’’.

Competition was held as between junior as well as senior MAG and WAG gymnasts. Also, were reveled team competition winners. The WAG team competition winners were TEAM RUSSIA, second were TEAM UKRAINE, and the third place were taken by TEAM BELARUS1. The MAG team competition winners were TEAM RUSSIA, second place was taken by the TEAM ARMENIA , and the third place by the TEAM BELARUS2.

Georgia had competed with two teams in MAG and two teams in WAG competition. Our senior gymnast Anna Subbotina was third at the All-around competition, also, she was second on the Balance Beam, the third on the Vault, forth on the Floor Exercise and the fifth on the Uneven Bars. Two more our junior WAG gymnasts Nino Kahadze and Ani Gobadze had competed for the first time at the International tournament, and both of them succeeded and got to some apparatus finals. Our senior MAG gymnast Saba Abesadze was second on the Floor Exercise and had take two third places , one on the Steel Rings and second on the Vault. Our second senior MAG gymnast Dmitrii Govorov was third on the Parallel Bars. Also, very well competed our junior MAG gymnasts : Bidzina Sitchinava was second on the Parallel Bars, the third oh the Steel Rings and the forth on the Pommel Horse; Levan Skhiladze was first on the Pommel Horse and the third on the High Bar; and the youngest our junior MAG gymnast Dachi Dolidze was the forth on the Floor Exersise.
