Kuzovkov is the Trophy cup winner

On March 16-19 the FIG Artistic Gymnastics Individual Apparatus World Cup was held in Baku at the Milli Gimnastika Arenası (MGA, National Gymnastics Arena). In total, 85 men and 35 women from 21 countries participated at the Cup.

The first two days were Qualifications of the event followed by the Apparatus Finals on last two days. The men completed for 6 sets of medals, while women defined the winners in 4 apparatus according to the Code of Points for the new Olympic cycle came into force in 2017.

Well-known men’s artistic gymnasts such as Olympic Champions Eleftherios Petrounias (Greece), Krisztian Berki (Hungary), silver medalist of the Olympic Games Filip Ude (Croatia) and European Champion Alexander Shatilov (Israel) greatly impressed the spectators with their professional performances. As for famous women gymnasts of the competitions, there were three-time Olympic Champion Catalina Ponor (Romania) and gold medalist of the Olympic Games Oksana Chusovitina (Uzbekistan) in the list of competitors.

Georgia had participated with three MAG and one WAG gymnasts. It was the first major tournament this year, and despite all the injuries and some other issues; our gymnast had done a good job. Two of them Maria Butckikh and Kuzovkov Konstantin were in the finals and one Saba Abesadze was the reserved gymnast for the finals. Maria had taken the 8TH place in Floor eservices final, and Konstantin was 7TH in the Vault finals.

The most important is that the cup winner was our gymnast Konstantin Kuzovkov. All, gymnastics experts at the tournament described him as very promising and perspective gymnast.

Well done to Konstantin, and we wish him and to our National team all the best in the following tournaments.
