City of Tbilisi from 11 to 14 August held an International Cup in Acrobatic gymnastics "Gurgenidze Acro Cup". This tournament was organized in memory of the legendary coach of Acrobatic gymnastics Mr. Vladimir Gurgenidze. Who was the honourable coach of Georgia and USSR. He raised many World and European Champions, and winners of different International tournaments. This tournament was organized and managed by the LOC staff of UGGF under of silervision of the Vice-president Mrs. Inga Giorgobiani. Inga Giorgobiani was one of the apprentices who was raised by Mr.Gurgenidze and became the World and European many times champion. The qualifying round was held on August 12, and also, the opening ceremony. On August 13 were held the finals and award ceremony. 120 athletes from 6 countries were competing in 2 age groups, youth and seniors. Participating countries were: Azerbaijan, Israel, Armenia, Ukraine, USA and Georgia. Also, we had invited as the VIP GUEST Mrs.Rosy Taeymans , who is currently the President of the FIG Technical committee of the Acrobatic gymnastics. Tournament had sponsors: Ministry of Culture, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, also, Tbilisi City Hall, the "VTB Bank", and, JSC "Heathy Water " company.
